Staff was friendly from the moment we got in. There is the most beautiful coy pond in the center of the hotel. There is a 24 hour billiard room, a small but useful fitness room and a pool. Also 2 restaurants on the premises. Really enjoyed it.

If this place has been voted the top Albany hotel for the last 15 years, then the system is freaking rigged. I've been in Hampton inn's nicer than this place. It feels like the hotel from the pirates of the caribbean ride. I had to stop my shower as it went from scalding hot to ice cold multiple times. See the attached pics for the shower machinery and upkeep. Will never stay here again!

At first glance the Desmond appears to be a quaint, small, old fashioned cottage type hotel. Once inside though, it's large, well maintained and with conference facilities. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and easily accessible with rapid access to the airport.

The interior is extremely pleasant, with an artificial open town theme, and rather elegant ballroom. Service was very attentive and polite. Food was sufficient, although portions were overly large and excessively cooked. Recommended, although I did not stay in a room.

I've been coming back for 20 years. I made a reservation on the hotel website a month ago for $159/night. At check-in the website rate was $139. The manager refused to honor the lower rate and explained they lowered the rate because they weren't nearly full. The Indigo, where the rest of my family is staying, is better and cheaper. No wonder they're not full.

Dated appearance, which would be charming if there weren't 'old grandma house' smells to go along with it. I was grateful that I could open a window in my room for a bit of fresh air. Don't know that I would stay here again.

Hospitality was superb everyone I mean everyone was friendly. Hotel was clean and each banquet was excellent nice size halls for any occasion. Lack of stars only due to decor. I personally like modern and Desmond is old Louisiana nice to look at but rather nice somewhere else type.

This is a beautiful old hotel. Not your modern day cookie cutter chain. The Desmond has colonial era charm, but still has all of the amenities that you would expect from an upscale property. Onsite restaurants that are top notch. Conference rooms, catering, wedding accommodations...the rooms tend to be on the smaller side, but they are comfortable and well appointed and maintained. There are always events and conferences, so it can be quite busy. Perfectly located near the airport and close by to malls, shopping centers and restaurants.

Clean and comfortable. Lovely rooms. Good dining options. Great airport location with shuttle. Only complaint is the extra charge for parking there while on a week-long trip. This service was free previously.

Very vintage and beautiful hotel. The dinner sections are large and waiters/waitresses are nice. Rooms are decent w/ fresh towels and commodities. Shower is either very hot or very cold though but that's no issue. Had a great time.

Great place. Good food. Layout is good for open format conferences, but secure meetings are an issue. WiFi is weak. Sound and visual tech support is inconsistent, but they are quick to respond. Priced for business and large groups. Out of range for small or regional groups.

My husband took me here for the Wine & Chocolate Festival. I was SO excited! The hotel and courtyard are beautiful! All of the staff we encountered were kind and just generally wonderful. The only thing I would change would be to have more chocolatiers. That's more of a festival issue though, not a hotel issue. Would definitely go back.

I was not thrilled. This was our third stay at the Desmond... We didn't pay for this stay due to issues with our last visit. And I won't be staying there again. The first thing we noticed was an ugly bug of some sort on the floor. Then I noticed the peeling wallpaper and the dated decor. No mini-fridge in the room. Claustrophobic shower. Cracked and drafty window-frame. The whole place is in need of serious renovations.

The Desmond is a unique hotel with a colonial feel. The rooms were clean and adequately appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the food.

The hotel is set in Victorian style. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. I really liked the room but I do wish some things (carpets, bathroom) were updated. Overall I would return here.

Loved their bread pudding.Besides , my dust allergies acting up in the room. Other than that it was spacious. Most of the staff is welcoming towards young adults around my age. Interior design on the hotel itself was cool.

Gorgeous hotel. Everything is so clean and everyone is amazingly nice. I fell in love with the hotel. They usually have several events going on at any one time but there are display boards around that clearly states which rooms and timings so you are never lost. The interior of the hotel takes you back and everything is just so adorable. The only thing is that water from the coolers tasted a little metallic but you can easily buy your own water from the gift shop or vending machines. It is also close to wolf road where the restaurants and malls are. Cant wait to go back again!

Clean, comfortable beds, pleasant staff. Able to check in early. Food for several day conference was varied and flavorful. Desserts are divine! Large conference center with multitude of room sizes. Indoor courtyards gave a European feel to my stay. The koi pond was my favorite!

The room was very nice, and comfortable. We stayed overnight because we attended a wedding. Our meals were delicious, and the hotel was the perfect venue for a wedding- the event took place in an enclosed courtyard. Very lovely. Staff is friendly. Negative- some of the hallways smelled like smoke.
