Osiris Hotel is honestly the perfect blend of a hotel/cultural experience with a pretty decent price. It’s rooftop - especially at night, was one of the most relaxing spots where we met other people from all across the world. They are very friendly towards westerners. The manager Carlos is incredibly friendly and helpful - so approach him with any questions. He helped me book nearly half my vacation - all across Egypt! I went to Cairo for a vacation and a large amount of my coming to understand Egyptian culture occured with the people and staff of this hotel. It is very well kept and the only reason I can see why it is 3 stars and not 4 or 5 would be that it has just 17 rooms so it’s a smaller hotel. But that means it’s more personal! They have a 24/7 concierge at the entrance so it is completely safe. Highly recommend, whether money is your concern or not.

Great staff at this hotel. The rooms may be slightly small, but it is defenitfy worth the price.

People were nice, good service for outside the hotel (guide at the pyramids for example), and the location is 2 minutes (walking) away from Tahrir Square. But the rooms were dirty, food in the hotel tasted really bad, the lift had no door and there were no stairs.

-stayed x3 nights and room wasn't cleaned once. Toilets didn't allow toilet paper so had to leave in a rubbish bin next to the toilet, after 3 days very smelly and unsanitary. -hotel staff were only friendly if I was willing to book a tour privately through them (extremely overpriced, paid $30USD for a drive to Giza & back, forced to book the driver's friend's Camel tour there which cost $100USD (2 hrs all up for the 'full day tour'), next day was $40 USD for a drive to the Citadel and Old Cairo (2.5 hrs for the 'full day tour'), driver did not speak a word of English). On my last day Carlos (hotel receptionist/manager) told me he would organise another driver for me for some additional sightseeing he very strongly recommend I do, I told him I was just get an Uber as I was going way over my travel budget spending $120USD+ per day in accomm, food and tours (Uber is safe, has english-speaking professional drivers and costs about 1/20th the price of his tours & others I saw I would recommend any tourist do after my bad experience), anyway Carlos became suddenly unfriendly and would only speak Arabic to the other workers in reception, I finally agreed to just pay it as I felt uncomfortable. -WIFI barely worked, had to walk to a Cafe down the street every night to send emails and check-in with family -I have travelled other parts of Africa, Asia, Central & South America and have stayed in guesthouses x10 better than this place for $10/night. For $35USD a night I would have expected at least a room tidied every night and somewhat professional staff not pushing over-priced tours. It's a shame because I am a Travel Agent and would have sent hundreds of customers Carlos's and the Hotel's way if he hadn't been so greedy and over-pricing me on the 'tours', now I will leave a few bad reviews of my experience on this site and others which will cost him a lot more than the 30-40USD in commission he would have made off me. We have a saying in Australia, 'wolf in sheep's clothing', and found that is the best way I can describe the experience I had with most of the staff there. If I were you I would get a $10 10GB sim card from the airport on arrival, book Ubers for your transportation for everything, hotel to & from, Pyramids, Citadel, Bazaars, etc. (it's extremely affordable..cost me $3.50USD from central Cairo to Airport when I left...and you're in a safe & modern vehicle with a friendly, English speaking driver WITHOUT getting ripped off), and spend an extra $40-50 USD a night to stay in somewhere a lot more modern and...hopefully...without extremely pushy hotel staff.
